Project Polish

 Hello,

I think this will be the last project polish post for this year and since I went through 17 bottles and my collection downsized I call this a success.

First is this gorgeous light and bright shade from Essence and it is called Eclectic Blue. It was vivid and it made me smile. I'm a sucker for this type of blue and I already have a few similar shades already so no need to hunt down this shade.

Next is also from Essence and it is named Indigo to go, dark base with blue shimmer. Super pretty and sparkly when the sun or the right light shined on it, otherwise it looked pretty modest. I love these almost black shades which hide a little secret :)

Beside blue I also love a good black with a twist. This is Misslyn Universe which dried to a sand finish witch has to be my favorite finish. This brand is no longer available here but thankfully I have a similar shade from Avon ready to be used up next.

The last in a row is another Essence, this one called Glitter Choc. A lovely dark brown which again was only noticeable in a bright light, otherwise it looked black. I absolutely adored this shade and after I will finish more bottles I will try to find a substitute. The only issue I had with this one was a massive tip wear.

Ok, all of these aren't finished but I'm giving up on them for various reasons. I will give them to my sister so maybe she will get some use out of them.

First is a lovely looking Catrice Want to be my brightsmaid? shade. I thought that it will be a milky soft color for everyday but it applies a bit streaky and uneven and after three coats it looks ok but I have other shades that look similar in tone but look so much nicer after just two coats so I decided to part with it because I don't like how sheer and uneven this one is.

Next is super old Essence Mother earth is watching you shade. Neutral with a silver frost. I recently pulled it out and decided to play with it but I'm just over it, it no longer makes me happy so I will pass it on, the formula is still really nice.

I bought this Catrice Clarity nail polish this year thinking it will replaced my lovely Misslyn Beauty Natural but this one is a tad more nude/brown and it just didn't look right in my opinion. besides the color this one also formed tip wear the very next day and I just don't want to deal with it so I will give it away.

The last one is Rimmel Sweet Retreat which I bought to use on my toes years ago but I only used it now. There is nothing wrong with it but my taste simply changed and I don't want to wear such a bright pink, that is all.

My number of nail polishes is still high but every year I manage to bring the number down and can't wait to get to a more manageable sized 'collection' of nail varnishes.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day

Project Polish

 Hello,

I'm continuing with the project polish where I handpick a few nail polish bottles and rotate among them until one is finished and replace it with a 'new' one from my already large collection. This is my way of minimizing and so far I have been successful (my number went down) and I'm realizing that I don't need to have 10 slightly different shades of pink at once.

Essence discontinued these nail candies a long time ago and I was so upset that I bought a lot of them at once to stock up (most of them were for my mom, because she loved them but I bought way too many of them so I kept some of them for myself). This one is my favorite shade and is named Like Love Birds, it is pink with a slight violet hue. Not opaque but milky in two coats sometimes I did three just to even it out and I love the 'clean' and polished look of a milky nail polish. This is my last bottle of this hue but I won't miss it because there are plenty of nail polishes that look similar.

The next one is also from Essence and it is called Sweet as Candy. This one is still available just in a different bottle design. It is also milky but less pink compared to the previous one, it is almost white and I comes off as a little more obvious/noticeable. I prefer this one because two coats were always sufficient and less pink tone looked even better on me. I decided not to buy a new bottle of it immediately because I have two other similar shades but at the end I did (I was buying products online and I needed to spend a few extra € to get free shipping... so I caved in and got myself a backup). This and the next one are some of my favorites.

Next in line is Misslyn Beauty Naturale and it was a limited edition shade so I can't get my hands on it again. It was such a lovely dusty pink with a bit of nude thrown in the mix. It almost looked like nothing (it was opaque in two coats) but the shade looked pretty similar to my skin tone so whenever I wore it, it made me think at a quick glance that my fingers were extra long :) It looked good with everything and it matched my every mood. It will be missed.

The very last one is also from Essence and it was part of their advent calendar from years ago and it is also the last left. It was an ombre top coat in the shade Candy Cane Lemonade. This red sheer liquid was a nice top coat, I often put it over all the three shades mentioned above and it just made them a bit brighter and vibrant (I used one coat over all of the nails, I didn't play with the ombre effect), I also liked it over light grey hues just to get a different tone out of it. I don't think I will buy nail polish like that again but writing this review made me miss it...

This was a bunch of nail polishes which I enjoy wearing a lot lately, I was really in a light pink mode ;)

Kaboom and Boost Vibes

 Hello,

I'm all about the lip glosses especially in the Summer, but wearing them under the mask can have disastrous results so as of lately I have been wearing more lipsticks, but during the breaks or when I leave I like to freshen up with a coat of gloss over my lips and it gives me enough satisfaction to make me happy.

Misslyn love at first boost volumizing lip glosses in Kaboom and Boost Vibes.
I loved the volumizing claim on the bottom of the tube thinking that they will be minty and tingling but unfortunately they aren't that sort of a gloss. They have the slightest vanilla scent to them which disappears super fast and the tubes only holds 3,5 ml of product.

These have an extraordinary long applicators but they do carry a lot of product so no need to dip into the tube multiple times.

I picked up two shades because I couldn't decide between the two. First is mauve toned Kaboom shade and second is light peach shade named Boost Vibes.

They have different formulas I noticed. Kaboom is lighter and less pigmented, therefore the shade blends into my natural color better and looks almost as it is clear and that is my natural lip color (it isn't but looks so effortless).

Peachy number Boost Vibes has more pigment and I have to be careful not to apply to much because it can sink into lines or if it goes over my lip line it shows. I also don't recommend pressing the lips together after fresh application because it will disperse the product unevenly. This shade is way more high maintenance and I don't like it.

I have read that this collection isn't consistent with their pigmentation so trying testers out is something I would recommend. I love the Kaboom shade (the tone and lesser pigment are my cup of tea) while the Boost Vibes leaves me cold.

I have been using the mauve shade quite a lot lately and I can already see through the bottle so I'm guessing another month of consistent use and it will be empty. At the moment I really have a lot of glosses but the Kaboom shade is definitely something I will repurchase after I finish a couple more tubes of gloss.

Project Polish

 Hello,

I haven't done project polish post in a while and I honestly don't know why it is taking me so long recently to finish up my nail polishes. I keep my nails painted and mostly I still use and rotate among the selected few but they seem to be bottomless bottles.

Anyway, I finally finished three more bottles.

First is lovely Depend Denim Blue. It is a lovely lavender hued blue with holo shimmer. A bit thin but still easy to work with it. I really like this one and the holo finish in general but I think this line of nail polishes is discontinued. Now I have one left from Catrice with similar finish and for now it will do.

Second is Misslyn Obsession which was gifted to me a long time ago. It has a black base with torquoise shimmer which comes to life on a bright sun. I liked to wear it in the Summer time despite the dark base. I don't have anything super similar but I can replace it with a shimmery dark blue and get somewhat similar effect.

The very last one is Essence Galactic Glam which is also a shimmery bomb and a very nice one. I love the green and gold shimmer because it makes it very special and like noting I already own. The removing process was a bit longer and my nails were left stained but I think it was worth it. If I will find a similar shade I will get it but I will try not to go hunting for it because I already have plenty of vanishes left.

This year I was gifted with one bottle, I didn't buy any and I am very happy about it. God knows I have too many and they are drying out and it makes no sense to get more at this time. I'm more than happy to play with what I already have and try to finish up bottle after bottle.

Project Polish

Hello,

I haven't done one of these in a while so I decided that now is the time to pass or throw away some nail polish, call it Spring cleaning.

Avon Midnight Green is a beauty with still my favorite type of finish, shimmer. I absolutely adore this one and while the formula is still very liquid it doesn't dry properly and the same goes for the next beauty named Golden Wine. This was my backup bottle but unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it because the formula is so old that it doesn't work anymore. I couldn't resist and applied both on the nail swatch just to show the beauty in these two.

Next are two of the same Essence nail candies Soda Pop & Candy Shop polishes. When they discontinued these I bought as many as possible. I'm embarrassed to reveal the number but in my defense I mostly bought them for my mom but when I started to see them getting separated I was urged to use them so I won't have to throw them away like I have to do with the first two bottles from Avon. I mostly used these two as base coats, one layer under every manicure but sometimes I would do three coats to get that lovely and easy going milky manicure. I still have plenty of them left so expect some more empties of this kind in the future.

The last one is a topper and a bit unusual for me, it is from Misslyn and I think at first this was a limited edition but then they just left it in their range. It is named Mon Amour. It is a fun topper to use but the little harts are actually quite big if you have curved nails like I do so the ends of the hearts pretty much always stuck out and it would get caught in everything (hair, tights...) and would flake off so I decided to pass it on while the formula is still good.

Here are Midnight Green and Golden Wine, the only two from this bunch that I will have to throw away while there is still plenty of polish left. It makes me sad but that is the price for having too many nail polishes.

Empties

Hello,

this month really was short. It came to an end way too fast but the thing I'm glad is the Spring. It feels like it is just around the corner and I can't wait, what about you?

Tea tree oil makes my skin happier and I'm super glad that I have found this The Body Shop Tea tree pore minimiser primer. I don't think that it does much priming but what I love about it is that it makes my skin matte and it is treating my skin while I'm wearing make-up. I love it and  I have already repurchased it.

Next is a little 10 ml perfume from Avon and it is called Cherish the Moment. I used up the lotion, I believe last year and since I liked the scent I bought this mini version. The scent at first is very strong, sweet and I don't like it in this perfume version (at first it smells very fake and cheap, at least to my nose) but if I leave it on my skin to warm up a bit then it turns out to be rather nice. Still sweet and flowery but not so offensive. I imagine people easily get headaches if I would use it too much at once. I liked it and I did get some sweet comments at how lovely I smell but honesty I won't repurchase it again.

Last year I was in need for some night eye cream and I was too cheap to get my favorite (Avon Anew nutri-advance eye cream) so I bought a couple 'substitutes'. This one from Terra Naturi with pomegranate was a bit of a fail.  It is a white cream, a bit thicker but it does absorb nicely into the skin. The 'issue' I had was that my under eye area got really dry (I was sick for almost two months) and this didn't help much. I guess it is a nice cream but only if your eye area isn't too dry.

This big tub is Avon clearskin professional complete treatment pads. Inside you get 30 presoaked pads and even though they recommend to use them for cleaning I used them on clean skin and if I had any fresh breakouts it slightly burn so I avoided the eye area as much as possible. I honesty didn't notice any difference in my skin but for the most part I have to take the blame. I know I should use them regularly but I wasn't so the blame is on me. I won't repurchase them simply because I know I won't use them. I already have a lot of steps in my cleansing and moisturizing routine that is why this guy never got a fair chance.

Next is this third and last pot of Balea multipurpose cream. They constantly come out with new scents and they cost just a little over one euro so it is pretty easy to buy them. I really just wasn't thinking too much, I thought that it smelled great and I picked it up. The 'issue' I had with it was where to use it. It is a bit thicker cream that takes a while to absorb. The ingredients list isn't anything special so I wasn't using it on my face, the pot is small so if I  would use it all over my body I would be done with it after two or three uses. At the end I used it on my hands before leaving so I would put my gloves on top and the material absorbed all the excess, a bit gross but that was the only way I could think of finishing it up.

This little guy is super old (I believe it is my oldest eye shadow)Avon Color Trend Halo eye shadow. I remember it was marked as primer and shadow but it was too drying on my skin and everything creased even faster. I don't have any swatches of it (I already had a big pan showing in the center but the last part of it fell out which wasn't planned). It was very light like my skin tone with some shimmer. If it would be shimmer free I could easily use it on top of my pimples for some extra coverage (the pigmentation was insane) and for some drying effect. I mostly used it to fix mistakes, so if I went a bit too high with eye shadow on one eye or too far out I put this powder on top and it was covered. We had a good run but now it is retiring.

The very last used products are my beloved lippies. First we have beautiful Misslyn color kiss lipbutter in the shade Sunbath. The color is soft peach and I liked that it wasn't overly pigmented because  light milky shades can turn not so nice on the lips. This gave just enough color and plenty of shine to my lips and I can't praise it enough. I think they are still available but now my eyes are locked on the brighter pink shade.

Avon ultra glazewear absolute Renewing Rose lip gloss has to be my ultimate favorite one. This what you can see is the third and sadly also the last tube of it that I went through. Yep, I finished three tubes of the same color. That is called love  ;)  Avon makes lovely glosses and this one was not an exception. I loved the soft cushion-y feel, glossines and above all the mauve color which gave my lips just a hint of  color.

Next in line is another favorite of mine, it is Catrice Ultimate color Kiss me if you can lipstick and behold, this is the second tube of this exact color that I went through. This soft pink hue is perfect for my skin tone, I liked it so much that the intense shimmer in it didn't even bother me, in fact I kind of liked it. I know shocking ;)   I would get it again if Catrice would repromote it.

The very last item is the most bland of them all and it is Himalaya Cocoa butter lip balm. I say bland because it is sheer, colorless but it turns out to be a pretty nice balm. At first it felt a bit hard and I didn't liked it too much but after time it grew on me and maybe it even become a bit softer in texture so it was easier to spread. It had a slight cocoa scent which is a plus in my books but the thing that matters the most about lip balms is the nourishing component and this green baby had it. It was nice but at the moment I'm sort of drowning in lip balms so I have to finish what I have before I go out and buy some more.

Are they really similar?

Hello,

the other day when I was doing my make-up I spotted potential dupes. I bought so many eye shadows lately that I lost track of them, so it is possible that I'm buying similar colors.
Sometimes they don't look so similar while in the pan but when you swatch them you have to admit that you really don't need both.

Misslyn Flirty Copper & Benecos So what!

First one is from Misslyn Eyes, eyes baby edition in the shade Flirty Copper and second one is from Benecos in So what! shade. On the first glance they do look similar and I was curious if they could be swapped.

Benecos So, what! & Misslyn Flirty Copper

On the swatches I changed order (I'm sorry, I really wasn't thinking). First swatch is made with Benecos one which is more gold compared with bronzier Misslyn shade.

Benecos So, what! & Misslyn Flirty Copper

Flirty Copper from Misslyn also appears more metallic than Benecos mono shade.
So, the verdict is that they are not dupes at all and I can keep them both but in the future I have to be more careful. I like them both and I just couldn't pick favorite.

eyes, eyes baby

Hello,

it took me forever to finally try this Misslyn eye shadow from their Eyes, eyes baby limited edition. I don't know for how long it will be available but usually their stuff don't get sold out to fast, at least in Slovenia they don't.

Misslyn Eyes, eyes baby eye shadow Flirty Copper

The name of this particular shade is Flirty Copper and it is the most neutral shade from the collection. They have some pretty interesting colors but neutrals always warms up my heart simply because I'm not adventurous with my eye make-up.
This shadow is buttery soft, I know that because when I touched it with my fingers to make a swatch it really felt nice, I kind of want to use it with my fingers and not with a brush  ;)

Misslyn Eyes, eyes baby eye shadow Flirty Copper

I thought it would be fun to swatch it with a brush and then with a finger which always intensify the color, so first swatch is made with a brush and second stronger is applied with a finger. When I apply it on my lid with a brush I still get better color because I put it on top of a sticky base and I use two or three layers to get the color. If you noticed the color looks different in the pan than on the swatch. In the packaging it looks darker and more brown while swatched brings more of its bronzy gold nature. On the skin it looks almost metal or wet simply because it does not contains shimmer but it has a beautiful sateen finish.
I'm super happy with this shade especially because I heard not so great reviews about their shadows in general, I hear people say that they are not pigmented enough and that they don't last. I haven't experienced that at least with this one and since this is the only one I own I really can't judge but next time I will check their stand and if something will look nice I won't hesitate to get it.

more eye shadows

Hello,

today I quickly went through the drugstore just to see if the new Essence LE is available (Lights of Orient) but it wasn't. On my surprise there was LE from Catrice already on display, on their official page you can read that it will come out in mid April, that is the reason why I was surprised, I just didn't expect it to be out.

Catrice Denim Divine palette in Injeanious
& Misslyn Flirty Copper

I decided to get the eye shadow palette (not that I need more shadows but they seemed very pretty and unique in my collection). Catrice palette from Denim Divine collection named Injeanious comes in beautiful bronze case and it is very hard to open but the shades and huge mirror inside justify that. I also wanted to get the bronzer but it was sadly sold out.
Next I also got Misslyn single eye shadow from Eyes, Eyes Baby collection in Flirty Copper, on the packaging it is only marked with a number 39 but on their official web site you can find the names.
I'm not sure when I will be able to try them out properly but I will try my best.

24. NOTD

Hello,

yesterday I decided to upgrade my nails, not because I would get bored of the color but because I thought that these two shades are perfect for each other. Initially I wanted to add sparkle only one one or two nails but then I just put it all over. It was nice and sunny outside and holographic shimmer always looks so nice on the sun.

Essence Just can't get enough

This Essence holographic top coat was part of the limited edition a couple of years ago, the name of it is Just can't get enough. As you can see it has somewhat pinky nude base with tiny holo glitter in it, so great to topped over Misslyn Beauty classique.

Essence Just can't get enough

This is how this duo looks like and I can tell you that on the sun it was crazy sparkly. I love holographic nail polishes and I'm a bit sad that the trend somehow died. How often do you see holo nail polish in the store?

23. NOTD

Hello,

new day new nail polish on my nails. This one is one of my favorite if not an absolute favorite nude polish. It is soft beige/pink with mauve undertone that suits me so much.

Misslyn Beaute classique

I bought this Misslyn nail polish in the shade Beaute classique last year as it was part of their Valentines day LE but on their official page it says that this shade is still available, yay.

Misslyn Beaute classique

The formula is nice but on some nails I needed an extra third coat, not quite sure why but I'm okay with it since I can't get over this beautiful shade. I know, it doesn't look like much while in the bottle or on my photo but google it and if you like this type of muted smoked nudes this one is perfect for you.

I love the fact that they made this shade permanent because I can go through this bottle and I don't need to worry about it, there is a back up bottle waiting for me in the nearest drugstore.

shopping

Hello,

I have been shopping a little and this time I decided to get only lip products (hello lip junkie).

Revlon Balm Stains Honey & Romantic, Misslyn Color kiss lip butter Sunbath

I got two Revlon Balm Stains, the neutral pink is Honey and the red one is called Romantic. Next my eye caught Misslyn Color kiss lip butters which were part of a limited edition back in the summer, I don't know if they made them permanent or they haven't sell them out but never the less I decided to get peachy neutral shade named Sunbath.
I haven't unpacked them yet but I will try them in the near future.

My current favorite concealer

Hello,

for today I decided to switch things up a bit. I will show you my staple product which I have for a while now (I assume I will finish it soon) and so far this is my favorite concealer I have ever tried.

Misslyn cream concealer in no. 3 Porcelain

It is from a brand I don't hear much on other blogs. I often check what they have but because there aren't many reviews about their products I never really ventured into their make-up. One day I remember I was trying to find Revlon concealer but it was ether sold out or they didn't have it. Next to it it was Misslyn display and I found this little guy, I really needed a new concealer so I just took this one. It is Misslyn cream concealer in no. 3 Porcelain.

It is the lighter shade out of the two (not really much of a choice, right?). It is super light and yellow toned and this makes it perfect for me. It comes in a tube with an applicator just like a lip gloss. Coverage is rather high, specially if you layer two or three layers.

Misslyn cream concealer in no. 3 Porcelain

I use it under my eyes to conceal the darkness and on my blemishes. It really works for both problems. I don't use brush with it but I just tap it on with my fingers. I find that most products work best if you warm them up a bit and you can do it with applying it with fingers plus you don't need to wash brushes constantly. ;)
I can see that I'm getting really low on it and soon I will have to repurchase it.
