Glitter Choc

this beauty accompany me last week and even though the dark colors are more suited in the cooler months this one made some sense in the Summer. It is dark and neutral to go with everything but still sparkly to get enough attention.

It is Essence the gel nail polish in Glitter Choc. I grabbed it when it was getting discontinued back in January.

It is a dark brown with some purple undertones but it doesn't look purple. The sparkles and more like flakes that shimmer and they reflect blue, purple and silver. The base is warm and the shine is cool toned, interesting combination that I haven't seen in any other nail varnish.

What is interesting is that on the nails it looks different. The brown base is mistaken for a black and only under direct sunlight you can see the chocolate hue. I'm not bothered by it, actually I think it is cool to have a nail polish which is such a chameleon and change color and shift light in different variations.
In some smaller stores I still spotted some of the 'old' Essence bottles so if I like some of the old colors you might still find them with some effort.

Btw, removing was quite easy. I had to rub a little more because of the sparkle but not as much as if it would be a full sparkler and most importantly my skin around nails didn't got tinted or stained which is much appreciated.

and I'm back with empties. A little less as usually but it seems like I say that quite often lately...

First item is Avium Citrus natural deodorant. I saw it last year and I decided to try more natural option for my sweaty armpits. At first it seemed like it worked so I got the lavender version as well but then the hot Summer came along and my 'first' opinion went down the drain. It is a stick but sometimes it leaves chunks that I have to rub into my skin, nothing too annoying but what let me down is its inability to prevent bad smell. It claims to reduce the sweat and minimize the scent but in my case that is not evident. I used it on less busy days but still I wasn't happy about it. I still have the Lavender version to go through and I hope that that one will be more suited for my skin.

Next is Avon care Yoghurt & Honey body wash. The scent is a bit generic and fake but thankfully it isn't too strong. The texture is creamier but I haven't noticed any special moisture properties. I think this body wash was average and that in the future I will try something new.

Browsing through the store I came across this Nature Box shampoo with cold pressed Almond oil. I opened the bottle and I liked the scent (I'm no longer crazy about it, I guess I got used to it) and bought it on a whim. It is free from sulfates, silicones and parabens. I'm not a scientist or someone who is knowledgeable about ingredients but I purchased it simply because I like the scent. At first I had to get to used to it. I used more than usually to properly wash my hair (it doesn't foam as much as 'regular' shampoos) and in the beginning my hair looked a bit dry and stripped. After using it a couple of times my hair got used to it and they were fine but nothing spectacular. Maybe I will try some other version but this one I won't repurchase.

My sister loves sheet masks but I think they are a bit impractical (they have the tendency to fall off so I only use them in the morning while still laying in my bed), still I wanted to give them another chance and bought a bunch of these Garnier ones (they look new?). First I tried the moisture + freshness tissue mask with green tea and hyaluronic acid. I have a really terrible cold (I know, I know, cold in the middle of a Summer? It sucked the life out of me and my skin, in fact my skin hasn't looked so terrible in years so I decided to treat it with this duo pack of sheet masks). My pimples didn't looked particularly reduced but my skin looked moisturized and taken care of. I have some other versions and after trying some more I will decide if they are worth it for me or not.

The very last item is Olaz anti-wrinkle firm and lift renewal eye gel. I picked it up because of its gel texture. I needed something light for the morning use under my make-up. I like to use something that absorbs quickly, plumps and nourish my under eye area all at once. This one was nice but I wished to be a bit more moisturizing, I still crave this Afrodita's Hydra Thermal one, which is discontinued. I compare every single eye cream to this one and nothing comes close.

Wow, this time I have nothing but 'average' products. None of them was a complete failure for me but they didn't ether rock my world.

31 July 2019

this round I have very little products at the finished line. I think that is simply because now I'm left with newer products which are still quite full and therefore harder to use up. I'm trying really hard to use up what I already have and purchase less so every used up product is a little victory on its own.
On the photo below I have some really lovely and some really awesome products.

Avon Today body souffle didn't have any special formula as the 'souffle' implies. Regular milkier lotion but I purchase it because of its scent. I was eyeing this perfume for a long time and I thought that purchasing lotion will make me decide if I really like the scent (I do like it a lot so I already own a perfume as well ;) To me it smells creamy, warm, flowery and a bit honey like. I loved coating myself with this scent and probably I will repurchase it soon.

Alkmene tea tree face wash is nothing new in my bathroom. I like its tea tree properties since I think it keeps my skin acne free. I use two pumps of product mix it with a bit of water and clean my face with it. It is great at removing my make up but it doesn't completely strip my skin. Plus it is on cheaper side  ;) Double win.

Batiste makes some of my favorite dry shampoos. This time around I used sweet & delicious Sweetie dry shampoo. As the name implies it does smell sweet and candy like but I didn't mind it, actually I wore it also as a perfume. Whenever I used it I skipped on my actual perfume because of its heavy fragrance, I honestly didn't need anything else. My favorite is still the Peony scent but this one comes close, I think there are some other versions that I would like to try next (anything but the Voluminous or Tropical ones since those two scents didn't suit me at all)

Second to last is this old bottle of Essence studio nails pro white glow base coat. It was slightly pink toned to help cover the yellow stained nails. The effect was so minimal that I don't think it was even worth it plus I never wear only clear nail polish so why I purchased it is still beyond me and this was actually the second bottle of it. In the future I think I will avoid tinted nail varnishes which promise covering the stained look simply because I don't need it.

The very last item is my beloved Catrice all matte plus shine control powder in Transparent shade. This is my third? one I think. It is very nice. It doesn't keep me matte for hours but what sets it apart is the fact that when I use it in the middle of the day (powdering my already oily face) it doesn't look all cakey or weird but it looks refreshed and matte, almost as if I redid my make-up. That is why I like it and the fact that it comes cheap helps a lot because I go through it quite fast, especially now in the hot Summer. I keep one more at work and then I'm out. I will try to use what I already have (Rimmel super famous powder and Maybelline fit me are already waiting to be used and I can't wait to see how they compare) and if they won't work I'm buying the Catrice one soon.

Project Polish

I have to pat myself on the back because my project polish is going really well. I'm almost at my goal which I set myself at the beginning of the year and it took me only half of the year to reach it (I need three more bottles to be finished to reach 20).

Yep, the cap on this Catrice Mint me up bottle is missing. I remember my sister gave me this polish soon after it came out and the first time I opened it up the cap broke so I pour it into another clean bottle but I decided to keep the original just to remind myself what an incredible Hulk I am I guess ;)  The color was a beautiful fresh mint with unusual golden sheen. I loved it.

Essence released this one, What a Grey't night, in 2015 as part of their advent calendar (I still have some more bottles to go through) and this shade really was one of my favorites. Light grey with golden shift? Count me in. The golden sheen was very similar to the Mint me up and in both shades it was unexpected and something special. This was another of my favorites.

The last one is another discontinued hue but this time from Avon speed dry line. They recently revamped this line and it is now called Pro colour 60 sec and it also promises long lasting effect and rapid drying time. Some of the shades also look very similar but I don't think they have the exact same one as this Pronto Purple hue. It doesn't look like much but on the nails it is so vibrant and it makes me happy. This is another one of my favorites and I will miss it.

On the mint one I just couldn't catch the shimmer but I think you can catch a glimpse one the grey one. All of the shades were super pretty and the first two I finished up completely while I have to part with the Pronto Purple shade because it become all goopey and therefore unusable.
I also love how all of them look together and I wish I would have enough courage to wear the mint and purple together...

new Catrice products

Catrice has just bring out a whole bunch of new products. Some had to say goodbye (as always) to make room for the new stuff. I was fortunate enough to receive a package with the new goodies.

Eyeconista is already well established mascara in Catrice range but this time around they introduced the waterproof version. I have not tried the 'regular' one yet so I decided to give the waterproof version a chance.

I'm almost out of my nail serum so this new nail oil will come super handy for my cuticles and nails. I have not tried it properly but it smells really nice.

Next in a lovey pink gold reflective packaging is their new color changing lipstick (lip balm?) lip colour intensifier with a bright coral hue, golden shimmer and not forget the amazing peach scent. I have not tried it out jet but I'm very excited. It is named One gold fits all (so far the only shade).

The last item is one of the new gold effect nail varnishes. I'm in love with sparkly nails so this entire collection is right up my alley. I received the shade called Fascinating Grace. Light and neutral but sparkly enough to get the attention it deserves.

I just picked up the package so I haven't got a chance to play with the products jet but I will soon and more in depth reviews will follow.

Thank you Catrice for sending me these products.

Nude Sapphire

recent announcement from the brand that they will add more shades to this range inspired me to finally post my opinion of the product. Lately I have been very lazy and I have been slacking but when it comes to these amazing little products I feel like I have to spread the good word so people will know and try them out.

I'm referring to this Catrice Generation Plump & Shine lip gloss in the shade Nude Sapphire. I was super excited to receive it from the PR team and honestly I still am.

The doe foot applicator is standard and it carries plenty of product. It has a very faint cookie scent and I'm fine with it. I mean, I wouldn't be mad if the scent would be more intense but I guess less scented stuff appeal more people so they did a compromise.

I received it shortly after receiving one of the L.O.V. glosses and before that it wasn't too long since I purchase one myself. Quite quickly I ended up with three very similar nude glosses and while they look super similar in the packaging...

Here I think that the difference among the three of them is pretty clear. L.O.V. Lovicious caring volume lip gloss in Mystic Sand is lighter nude with peach tones, Addicting Rosewood also from the same L.O.V. line is darker more rose toned while the Catrice one looks more pink toned. Honestly the Nude Sapphire shade looks the most natural and therefore the most flattering on me (I'm eyeing also the coral and the pink shades). This formula is super comfortable and nourishing, I haven't experience any dryness while wearing it. It isn't sticky or gummy on the lips and if I tell you that I have already used up around one quarter of this product...
All in all I don't think I could decide which formula I prefer but since I can't get my hands on L.O.V. products anymore the answer is pretty clear. You can expect more Catrice glosses on my blog :)
P.S. They are about to launch three shimmery shades but I haven't made my mind jet, in essence I don't love shimmery lip products but since the formula is soo good...

Warm Glow bronzer

Summer is in full swing so it is only appropriate to expose some bronzers. I personally love wearing it all year round but only on my cheeks, I'm too scared to look muddy or dirty if I would use it all over my face. My love for bronzers is so high that it is so hard to resist and I keep buying more. My last bronzer purchase is ths one from The Body Shop.

It is from The Body Shop Baked to last line and my shade is Warm Glow (there is even darker hue available).

I'm a sucker for anything marbled and bronzey so this was an obvious purchase for me.
It looks quite shimmery and the lady working there said that the glitter particles mostly fall off, that is only half true. There are still some shiny bits left but not as many as you wold expect.
The shine didn't bother me but I was a bit scared of the orange hue, I swear that in the store it looked more muted.

Here I have swatched the Warm Glow in the middle and you can see just how orange it pulls ( a little too much for my liking especially compared with other bronzers in my collection which have other, more natural looking undertones for my skin tone).

First swatch here was made with Essence Mosaic compact powder in Sunkissed Beauty which also has some shimmering bits but compared with the TBS one looks matte and more peach toned. I also had to layer it to even show it on my skin, it is very light and perfect for pale complexions because it layers nicely and rarely looks too heavy. In my opinion the lighter pigmentation means that you just can't go wrong ;)  and it is one of my favorites.
Second, middle shade is TBS Warm Glow.
And the last stripe is my beloved Catrice Light Spectrum Strobing Brick in Brown Brilliance. This tone is everything. Do you see how much more brown it is? No orange tones present? I love that and it is a shame that more bronzers don't look like that.

I think it is pretty obvious that I'm not going to keep Warm Glow. It is almost too glittery even for me but the most important aspect is the tone and it is just too warm for me. It doesn't look natural  on my cheeks so instead of keeping it I decided to pass it on to someone who will love it more and I will use the ones that I truly enjoy wearing.

16 July 2019

I'm back with another quick post or at least I hope it will be short and sweet.
It is time for some empties.

First is The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice clarifying polishing powder wash. It is essentially powder that doesn't completely dissolve so it gently rubs and polish the skin. It really feels gentle but since I was used to some harsher stuff this felt a bit light so I used it more on a regular base. All in all, I think I have learn that gentle is the way to go but this little fella seems a bit expensive so I purchased similar polish from a different brand to try it out but this powder really showed me the new ways of scrubbing.

Purple tube is already discontinued Holika Holika Moisture Petit BB with SPF 30 PA ++. This is my second used up tube of it and now I can't find it anymore. It was a smidge dark for me but high coverage, easy glide and blend with my skin was phenomenal. The high SPF which didn't break me out was a massive plus. The only downfall is that BB creams and my oily skin on the long run don't work that well, after a couple of hours I do look all greasy and after so many blotting sessions even powder couldn't help me out. After a couple of years of relying on Asian BB creams I switched completely on foundations and for now BB creams only come handy to blend my neck or on vacation.

This bottle of oil I bought on a whim. I remember seeing it on sale and I heard good reviews in general about this brand so I wanted to try at least something (even though I use up one of their face washes and it was average to me). Alpstories 100% pure Avocado Oil had a weird scent, slightly unpleasant but it went away pretty fast so it didn't bother me too much. The oil is liquid and thick at the same time, most of it I used as a make-up remover and it worked amazingly well. It managed to melt all of my make-up, next I followed with a face wash to remove 'dirty oil' and my face was clean but not dry. I thoroughly enjoyed it and after I will be done with the hazelnut oil that I'm using at the moment I will repurchase this particular oil again. I'm not sure where to get it but when I will run low I will make sure to find it out.

Second to last is this raved by everyone concealer. I for sure was amazed by it for quite a while but then something even slightly better came around. This is Catrice liquid camouflage high coverage concealer in the shade 010 Porcellain. It is a tad lighter than my skin but I found out that this slightly lighter tone helped brighten up my under eye area even better and I wasn't using it anywhere else. High coverage and creamy/liquid formula are what won everyone's hearts. I loved it a lot but then I got a hold of the Essence liquid concealer (healthy glow version is the best, compared to the Catrice one it creases even less and with the Catrice one you can barely even notice the creasing). I would buy any of the two but if I can choose than my vote goes to the Essence one.

The very last item is this another amazing product and it is Avon true color SuperShock volume mascara in black. My sister only wears this one so don't even think on discontinuing it Avon. I love the big brush with rubber spikes that combs through every single lash. It elongates them and makes them look super natural (no clumping). Of course you can add more layers to add volume to every single lash but it will never look fake or too done.On me it pretty much always looks like I'm not even wearing mascara in a good way. My eyes are still the center point without looking too unnatural. I have already repurchase it but now Avon came out with another similar looking mascara...

01 July 2019

pampering my skin is something I really like to do. It has become more of a ritual than hassle through the years and just now I'm realizing what works for me. It is a process and it takes time, in the mean time I buy a lot of so so products but even they have to get used up.

Let's start with the Secret Key Multi cell night repair ampoule serum. It is supposed to be a moisturizing and brightening serum, I have noticed right after applying it to my face that my skin drank it up like a glass of water in the desert. It felt extremely moisturizing especially combined with oils on top. I have a lot of acne scars (bright red dots that are super stubborn) but I wouldn't go so far to claim that it helped to reduce them faster (they take months to disappear so tracking them down and figuring out how long it takes them to go away is hard). I liked it a lot and I would get it again simply for its moisturizing properties but since I can only get it online I will try to get something similar from the stores around me.

I love Avon care hand creams (my favorite is still the most basic one named Glycerin hand, nail & cuticle hand cream). This one, youth restore hand, nail & cuticle cream was nice but it felt like it didn't absorb properly and when I went and wash my hands it came off and my skin was dry again. It just sit on top and didn't work its magic into the deeper layers of my skin.

This next product was an impulse purchase from Alverde. It is their Orange and Melissa body spray which smells amazing by the way, citrus-y but warm at the same time. It is such a shame that it is only a body spray which fades away way too fast.

The last item is a necessity for every nail polish lover. I go through a bottle of nail polish remover every couple of months. This time it was this Aveo Hibiscus nail polish remover. Towards the end I couldn't pick the scent anymore, I don't know if that is because I got used to it, it faded or my nose can't pick up the scents properly anymore. I often buy removers from this brand because they are inexpensive and effective. I already bought a new bottle again from this brand just in a different 'scent'.

My favorite category are lip products. This time around I have three. The first is old Catrice Vitamin lip treatment in a bright red shade named Bohemian Raspberry. Sheer and very glossy on the lips with a somewhat fruity scent, so very different from all the vanilla/caramel ones that are floating around. It was moisturizing and nourishing my lips and that is the important bit, I still have four left so I don't feel particularly sad about finishing this discontinued product.

Next is my first and perhaps also the last M.A.C. lip product (I find their products very expensive  and especially lip glosses are pricey considering how little product you get), mine was a gift. It is the dazzleglas in the Love Alert shade. Bright red with little shimmer particles, I liked how the color wore off, it looked lighter and just a bit flushed but it got sticky so instead of reapplying it I had to remove it completely and then apply fresh layer. It did lasted on my lips a bit longer than the rest of the glosses that I have tried but the sticky feeling toward the end, 1,92 g of product and the price tag around 20 EUR seems too much for me to handle.

And the lipstick is Avon ultra color nourishing in Nurturing Nude. These lipsticks are pretty special and unique (I have another shade and more in depth review will follow) because of its balm infused core where the pigment and clear balm are unevenly mixed together so each lipstick and every application are unique. Better review with swatches will follow but I don't think I will repurchase it again even though it was a nice nude shade with mostly lovely formula. I prefer it with more of a balm ratio so it was more of a sheer wash of color.

Last but not least is Avon Caribbean Escape  with crushed pearls and sea algae illuminating body butter. This smells so so nice but I don't like the tiny little golden shimmer because it ends up everywhere. Still, this was my second pot of it, if they will ever make it without shimmer I will buy it again but till then I will pass. Maybe I will rather get the face mask with the same scent which isn't anything too special, a bit moisturizing but I will get my kick in the scent department from it.

Project Polish

lately I have been drawn to the lovely plums and golds on my nails and so I have rediscovered some old favorites and also some gone bad formulas...

Lets first start with the lovely Avon Night Violet. It is rich brown toned plum with tiny golden shift, very rich looking and still very liquid (that seems to be the case with Avon nail polishes) but unfortunately it doesn't dry properly anymore. I have used up almost half of the bottle and we had a good run.

Tiny 5 ml bottle of Depend Sand Beige bottle is all used up. I remember winning this cutie in a giveaway and for the first year I only treasure it until I discovered how awesome it looked on the bright sunlight. This was from their holographic collection and it was quite intense warm gold polish, no wonder I completely finished it up.

This next bottle belong to old LE from Catrice and it is named Doris' Darling. It is very dark plum with simple cream finish. I initially bought it to use it as a base for shimmers but I was surprised at how much I liked it on its own. When I wanted to spice things up I just added some golden glitter/shimmer and I was ready for a party.

Peel off Catrice When in doubt, just wear glitter was fun when it lasted. I received it last year and since then it become quite goopey and it doesn't dry anymore. I'm aware that the texture is a bit gummy because of its peel off claim but after one year it has become unusable so I'm throwing it away.

The very last one is the one I was hunting down. I saw it on promo photos and I just had to have it. Essence True Love is dark plum with intense pink shimmer which makes it appear lighter and bolder on the nails than in the bottle. I remember how excited I was when I finally got my hands on it but after first application my love faded. There was nothing wrong with the polish itself I just realized that the color on me just wasn't so special or thrilling. As you can see I did used it but now it is all thick and goopey so it will be joined with the rest of them in the trash.

These five bottles makes my collection smaller for 14 bottles this year alone (I did add 9 new ones in so my collection so far only went down for 5 but still, I added less so I still count it as a success). I am still on a roll with this project use it up and soon there will be more.

Dreams are calling

I'm a bit late but this Essence collection can still be found in the stores (just today I was checking the bronzers but they are super large and slightly too orange toned for me).

I was lucky enough to receive this PR gift from Sun. Sand. & Golden Rainbows Essence collection. It is one of the two baked multi colour highlighters in the shade Dreams are calling (the more pink version of the two).

I really like the 'striped' look so if you want only one color you can dip only in one section and this way you get plenty of different color options.

The shades are all blinding, on the skin they look almost like cream products (Essence can really do their highlighters, I'm rarely disappointed in them).

The last swatch is a mix of all three shades together and it creates this lovely rose toned shade which I can wear as a blush (I'm too pale for it to be worn as a highlighter). I like to use the first shade on its own or I mix the first and the second a bit warmer one together to create this intense highlighter on my cheeks.
As I mentioned I like how many color combinations you get within one product and also that this doesn't work just as a highlighter but doubles as a glowing blush or I even use it on my eyes for intense bling.

Thank you Essence for sending this beautiful product my way.

it is quite late so I will try to make it short and sweet this time. I know that I like to talk about my used up products because when you empty something you really truly get a feel for a product and the opinion is really valid but still sometimes I notice that I change my mind after a second bottle or tube, I guess we are all different and sometimes an item feels nice and in some other season it just doesn't.

It is not a secret that I love anything with a Peony or Rose scent so these products really should not strike you as a surprise. This Le Petit Marseiliais Raspberry and Peony body wash is my second tube of it and even though I don't really care for body washes (I would get something cheap for washing my body and rather splurge on moisturizer) but I just can't resist this gorgeous scent. If I will find it on sale I would get it again.

Next are the Avon naturals Raspberry and Hibiscus conditioner and shampoo duo. I have used up countless bottles of this shampoo but I think this is my second or third bottle of the matching conditioner. I remember that the last time I used them up I didn't see any big difference so I wasn't so sure if I would repurchase it again but I'm happy that I did. My hair are a bit dry at the moment and this combination makes them soft, silky and so smooth plus the scent is to die for. I already have another bottle of this shampoo in my shower but I'm using different conditioner (I'm going through my stash and once I will use everything up I'm getting it again).

There is nothing wrong with these lip liners from Avon but I realized that I don't use them and that I don't want to use them. They are Avon ultra glimmerstick lip liners in Mystery Mauve, Simply Spice and Coral Desire. They are very pigmented but I don't like sharply lined lips on myself, the colors are muted and bold and that is another thing I don't like. I prefer soft lips, no harsh edges, painted in light colors so I get more of a natural look. I had them for quite a long time so I think now it is about time to get them out of my way.

The very last item is limited edition item from last year. Essence glow like you're on your dream date multi-use liquid highlighter, I mostly mixed it in with my Catrice foundation otherwise it would take me forever to finish it up. I liked that it wasn't too yellow, so the color looked natural and I could adjust the effect. More subtle glow on 'normal' days but when I wanted to amp it up I added a second layer on top of my cheekbones for that extra attention. It was a nice product but I think I will avoid cream cheek products in the future. I find powders to be easier to work with plus they don't expire so fast as cream products do.

Swatches of all Avon lip liners that I own (besides the clear one which I'm using daily and I love). First is Mystery Mauve, second is Simply Spice and third is Coral Desire. They are all very pigmented and muted in tone. These colors are nice but I just don't feel comfortable wearing them. My lips looked very matte after application and if I put creamy lipstick on top it will soon look full on matte, these liners just suck the moisture out of products and my lips. If you don't mind dry lips, like matte look and are looking for something long lasting then these are definitely for you.
They were nice for playing around and testing the trend but since it doesn't suit me I don't think I will buy and colored lip liners again.

Soul Searcher - Namaste all Day

Catrice came out with these cute 6 pan palettes in nice color combinations (in my opinion). I was lucky enough to receive one of them (judging from promo photos this one looked the most appealing to me).

It is Catrice Soul Searcher eye shadow palette with the name Namaste all Day (I really don't know why they put the 'name' on top of the palette for everyone to see and refer but if you flip it over at the back there is another different name.

The packaging on my palette is a bit flimsy because it doesn't click so if I would like to take it with me on the go it could open in my purse so I went to the store and tried others and they close shut so mine is apparently a dud (I purchased another color option that I like even better). If you go shopping for these I would suggest to try open and close it, just to be on the safe side.

The colors seems nicely pigmented when I applied them with my finger (with brush application I had some 'issues' with the blue one but a couple of layers and it was good).
The first top gold has more of a sateen finish and it is barely noticeable so I mostly use it as a base (I would prefer more intense color so I could use it as an inner corner highlighter).
Next to it is another gold which has a bit more yellow in it but the finish is stunning (the photo doesn't do any justice), it looks like a proper cream shadow and this finish is present in the other two shades as well.
Third and the last in the top row is warm copper with plenty orange in it.
First in the second row is similar but a bit cooler, not cool toned just more neutral compared to the previous.
Second to last is much darker and neutral looking with almost the same finish, shiny but  bit more subdued.
The very last color is the stand out shade. It looks very vibrant but unfortunately on my swatch it doesn't look like, I swear it can look very bright with some layering. I had quite some fun using it but at the end I just couldn't prepare myself to go out wearing it. I'm still not comfortable wearing bold colors on my eyes.

As mentioned this palette looked the most neutral of them all but after testing it out it slightly disappointed me. I think that the formula is really nice, I had zero issues (the blue color needed some layering but that was all), the colors stayed vibrant all day, they didn't crease and aren't powdery, the finish is phenomenal but I think that the color selection is a bit poor. The first two shades look very similar (the first one is a bit lighter and the sheen is less obvious but otherwise kind of the same), third and  fourth shade also look too similar for one small palette, there are slight differences in tones but on such a small area as eye lid I couldn't tell them apart. Instead of six tones you get four really different shadows.
I guess if you really like these colors go for it, the formula will not disappoint you. I bought the mauve one named Future Female and the formula seems the same and I can actually differentiate all the colors. I like the remaining palettes as well but I already have too many shadows, maybe towards the end of the year I will pick all of them...  :)

HD Active

finally we are having some proper Summer weather and all I can think of is my vacation (I haven't booked anything jet but it is nice to dream about beaches and see, right?).
I started to use primer with high SPF again because the first time I used it it wasn't very warm and I wanted to see how it will perform under the hot sun.

It is Catrice HD activate performance primer with SPF 30.
It claims to be water & sweat proof and have pore minimizing effect. I like the little glass bottle with a pipette, it is convenient and easy to use but not so practical for traveling due the heavy glass.

Before every use you have to shake it well because it starts to separate, it is very liquid (as you can see on the photo) and very white. It does leave a bit of a white cast.

A little bit goes a long way so even though it only holds 15 ml it will last me a long time if I would only use it on my face.

The skin stays sticky even after I left it on the skin for a couple of minutes (it feels like any other cream with an SPF). The pore minimizing effect is there but the first claim? Water and sweat proof? Not for me unfortunately, I have very oily skin (especially in this hot weather). I used it under the matching Catrice HD liquid coverage foundation (the same packaging so they should work well together), at first it looked nice. My skin remained slightly sticky even after generous amount of powder, hair were sticking all over my face and neck. After two hours my face started to melt, the foundation was breaking especially around my mouth and chin area (there is where my skin moves around the most and if it breaks it breaks there), the forehead and cheeks were extra oily but still okay but my jaw line looked horrible. I used it on my off days when I just did some errands but mostly I stayed inside in my apartment so no one needed to see me. I would be too embarrassed to walk around.
All in all I did not like it at all. To be fair pretty much all of the creams with an SPF do that to my make-up so this one is nothing special but there is one positive feedback I can give and that is that it did not made me break out. I haven't noticed any pimples during my wear time and that is impressive. That being said I will use it on my chest and arms so probably it will soon appear in my empties but I would buy it again.

long time no words from me, I know I know but I'm back with one of the most 'refreshing' posts. That is how these empties feels for me, like a little Spring cleaning where I get to throw a bunch of empty and now useless packaging away.
Less clutter is how I want to live my life and that mostly includes using up what I have (check) and buying as little as possible (a bit smaller check ;)-

Okay, without any rambling this is Garnie oil beauty body scrub. I bought a set with lotion which was recommended to me by my sister (I haven't used it yet) but this scrub was nice. I prefer to use a brush for my body but this one smelled really good. Would I repurchase it, nope simply I don't think it is cost efficient compared with the big 'horse' brush which lasts for a really long time.

Mixa baby surgras moisturizer for face and body for sensitive and dry skin was another 'let's try it out' kind of product. A while ago I was into baby creams for my sensitive skin to provide it with necessary moisture and tone down my redness. I wasn't really pleased with it (I honestly don't even remember what I thought of it since it was so long since I used it), now I found it at the back so I just used it on my body to finish it up.

One of my favorite face washes is this Himalaya purifying neem foaming face wash. It is bright green but it comes out as a light foam which effectively removes everything from my face but it doesn't dry it out. I still love it and I will buy it soon, right now I'm using another favorite of mine.

Hands down my favorite under the eye area concealer is this Essence camouflage healthy glow concealer in Light Ivory. It is a bit light that is why I only use it under my eyes but I love how buildable the coverage is and how natural it looks, very very little creasing and that is amazing. I'm already using my next tube of it.

Huh, Essence used to make these prettifying lip oils in three options (I had all of them). This one is red named First help pinky. It had very little pigment but it was super glossy/juicy looking with nice nourishing properties even though constant reapplying was a must. Still, I think it is worth it.

This is my second Milnica's Rosemary toner. It has quite a strong herbal scent (I like it a lot) but the reason why I keep buying it is that I think it is nicely moisturizing, I even pour it into the spray bottle and use it on my face without any cotton pads that would absorb its magic.

The very last one is this Fenjal intensive creme deo roll on that I fell in love with. Roll on thingy is my favorite way of applying deodorant and I liked the fresh and clean scent of it and to top it of it really worked for me, no stinky underarms for me  ;)

Project polish

these two are both really old and sports some old type packaging. Both brands since changed their bottle design at least once. One of them was among one of my favorites but for the other one I didn't really care so this post is bitter sweet because they both still have plenty polish inside but it hardened so not even the nail polish thinner could help them out.

First is Catrice Luxury Lacquers Maliblue with gorgeous sand finish. I'm a sucker for rough finish in nail varnish and blue nail polish holds a special place in my heart. I would rate this one as one of my top five bottles and if would still be available I would get it in a heartbeat. There is something about this fun bright blue that makes my heart skip a beat so if you have any suggestions where to get something similar I would appreciate it.

The next one however was never on my mind. This Essence Gold Rush which is a shimmery pale gold has quite a backstory. I think I got it when I wanted to get the 'perfect' gold nail polish for my sister. I was checking some other golden shades but nothing felt quite right so I decided to get plenty and just mix the right color for her, at the end I found the 'perfect one' so I placed all of them from my basket back to the shelves but forgot this one so I ended up buying it. Instead of passing it on I used it maybe twice otherwise it was just sitting at the back of my drawl until I picked it up eventually just to find out that it is all hard and can't be used. At least now I have no choice but to throw it away.

15 May 2019

on this rainy day I collected all my empties. It is a colorful bunch of  awesome and some not so great products. Some of them I will definitely repurchase or I have already and some that I will never touch again.

First is Balea coconut water which smells awful, very plastic like so I hold my breath for as long as possible after using it but then it evaporates and I can't detect it anymore (thankfully this scent is discontinued but I think they now have just the non scented version and something with mint or citrus? Something refreshing maybe? I should check). I used it because the mist is so fine, it hits my face evenly and it is never too wet. I was pretty consistent and used it on top of my make up to avoid cakey and dry patches and it worked fine, so I'm definitely looking for a new one in a different scent or unscented version.
Next is what become my favorite foundation and it is Catrice HD liquid foundation in Light Beige. I love the pipette/dropper even though it is not that efficient but better than nothing. The color Light Beige is a perfect match and even though it is supposed to be matte it has some glow (no shimmer), it looks natural on the skin and the coverage is pretty high on its own but you can definitely build it up and go all out with it. I love it and I'm already using a new bottle of it.

Another favorite of mine is this Alverde aqua see algea essence. This watery essence took me by surprise. I really wasn't expecting much from it but this little baby moisturized my dehydrated skin with ease, I know you shouldn't use it on its own so I top it off with some moisturizing oil and it did wonders for my skin. This will most definitely end up again in my basket but first I have to use up some more expensive and less efficient essences and elixirs before I purchase it again.

I fell in love with the scent of this The Body Shop Vineyard peach body lotion. It really smell authentic and it is gorgeous but I have noticed that it wasn't moisturizing enough for my skin and I got some dry patches after I started using it (I can't verify that this lotion caused it but after I started using the oil that I will talk in a second my skin healed and now that I'm not using it anymore it looks like nothing happened). The scent was definitely amazing but nourishing properties weren't there.

So the magical miracle that I mentioned is this Melvita Jojoba oil. I ended up using it for so many things like removing my make-up (I started doing the triple cleanse, first is the oil to separate make-up from my face, second is some kind of gel to efficiently remove make-up off my face and third is cotton pad soaked with micellar water to make sure everything is clean). It definitely works as cleanser, then when my face was clean I would use a couple  of drops to moisturize my face, I used it on my arms where I developed some dry patches to sooth and nourish and I even used it on the ends of my hair. I definitely need more Jojoba oil in my life but first I will try to use some others up before repurchasing.

The very last item is this all in one Garnie skinactive rose 3 in 1, cream and mask. They suggest to use it in the morning and night but also as a mask if you don't mind slapping a thicker layer on. I didn't like it at all. It was not light enough, the texture reminded me of a butter so it was definitely not great for the day under make-up (at least for my oily skin), I tried it at night but after a while it absorbs and my skin didn't feel nourished but tight and not really taken care of and if I applied a thicker layer it just dried and it lay on top of my skin and did nothing. Well, probably it did something but the results were so minimal that I didn't notice them. At the end I just used it on my body and didn't worry about it.

This Trend it up Soft color butter pen lipstick in the shade 010 is so good, a perfect mix of gloss, lipstick and lip balm. I wish they would make more shades of them. I scrap everything out of the tube so there wasn't enough for the swatch but if you are curious some swatches are here. This formula is one of my favorites and I wish they would still make it.
Next are the Catrice beautifying lip smoothers in Coffee to go and Best mauve ever. I originally wanted the soft pink shade but since I couldn't find it I settled for these two. Nude one was a bit too light for me so I only wore it inside (so no one saw me) and the brighter berry one was a bit too bright and I was too scared to wear it in public in case of bleeding or going out of my lines. They had a nice formula but nothing too spectacular, if they would still be available I wouldn't get them. I didn't completely finish them because they started to smell so I decided to part with them and use something that is at least still good.

Natural Radiance II

I'm back with another Trend it up highlighter. I like bronze shades and when I saw this highlighter I was very intrigued. It is gold but not typically yellow but rather more antique and almost bronze looking, it is still gold in its essence but more flattering on my pale skin tone than any other gold highlighters.

It is Trend it up Natural radiant highlighter in the shade 25 (no names just numbers to differentiate products).

This is the second highlighter from them and I bought it after I tried the pink toned one and since I was so impressed by the formula I had to get some more  ;)

Here I applied a heavy coat so it would show up on me and on photo but when I apply it on my cheeks it doesn't look so pigmented and it rather looks like a natural glow and it doesn't clash with my complexion or skin tone. Again it doesn't contain any shimmer or glitter particles but offers plenty of shine that looks quite natural. Just by looking at them in their pans I really wouldn't guess how awesome they are especially for the super low price, I hope they will add some more shades because I'm definitely interested  ;)

Project polish

project polish is going strong and this time around I have some of my favorite colors. They are all very different from one another but all so very beautiful and very 'me'.
The two small 5 ml bottles come from 2015 advent calendar and the middle, bigger 8 ml bottle is from their past sub line called the nudes.

They are all from Essence which makes lovely nail polishes formula, color and texture vise. First bright one is Have a very pink x-mas and it is not red nor completely pink but something in between with a hint of berry. This was lovely to brighten my nails without looking too typically red, very nice and it will be missed. Thankfully I have one from Catrice that it is similar ;)

Next is sheer, cream to pink polish with golden shimmer named Baby Doll. This one looked so effortless and elegant. Chic and grownup in my opinion. Such a shame that it is no longer available but I have some shades that come close, some are more pink, some don't have any pink in them at all, most have cream finish with full opacity... I could go on and on, the point is that I have probably around 10 bottles that are similar but noting comes close.

The very last moody grey is My dear Reindeer and has a cream finish. I have a soft spot for grey shades in all tones so even though it my look dull is a winner in my books since grey makes me happy. This tone was lovely but I have a couple bottles of similar shades left so my nails continues to be painted in cement grey shades.

Lucky Sevens

Sephora Colorful duo in Lucky Sevens eye shadow (did anyone else thought of the movie Lucky number Slevin?, cool movie if you like interesting plots).

My sister got me this duo as a gift from one of her travels. She always brings me some make-up or cosmetics that aren't available here in Slovenia for me to enjoy.

This time she picked this subtle eye shadow duo with cream matte side and peachier shimmery part.

Matte shadow is quite close to my skin tone but with transition shades that is perfect so they are easier to blend into the skin but still offer some definition.
This Spring I'm getting more and more into peachy - coral all the way into more pink toned shadows to spice things up so this second color fits into my current make-up looks rather nicely and the shine is definitely my cup of tea.

If I'm in a hurry in the morning I just mix them together and apply them all over the lid for a little sparkle and I can relay on them. It never looks too heavy or out of its place. This duo isn't a game changer but a nifty little product that comes handy when I'm in a rush but still want something on my lids.

Natural Radiance I

this brand still surprises me with it's awesome products. This time I have an amazing highlighter. I felt very brave to pick this obvious pink shade but since it was on sale I grabbed it.

It is Trend it up Natural Radiant highlighter in the color 30. It is cool toned and almost silver on the skin (I don't think this one is still around but the similar looking shade, warmer looking pink is on their shelves right now that intrigues me, I think it is shade no. 35).

I also love the print and the 3D effect even though with use it goes away and seems pointless but the little things like that warm my heart (I already have blush with the same packaging but I don't own any bronzers like that from them, there isn't many to choose from).

Here you can see that it produces plenty of shine and that it makes my skin looks frozen but since I'm pale it looks okay and not too out of this place. Pink doesn't really comes through as I was afraid and my favorite way to use it to top bronzers with it, that way I avoid looking too warm.

Here it almost looks like it has shimmer but it doesn't, it is just glow, that beautiful glow that obsessed me and made me go back to the store and get another shade  ;)   and now I'm already thinking if I should get a third one...
